09/03/08:   The 2008 Taikai has just concluded. Shodokan Sydney did very well. We now have the national randori champions for both men and women! The major placings of Sydney members are as follows:
Randori Shiai Open - 1st place Peter Baculak
Randori Shiai Women's - 1st place Rachel Ng 3rd place Akiko Onaka Fighting spirit award:Donna Yoo, Ewa Rej
Jiyu waza Dan grade - 3rd place Ewa Rej & Rachel Ng
Jiyu waza Kyu grade - 2nd place Donna Yoo & Akiko Onaka
Goshin no kata - 3rd place Peter Baculak & Chris Tsang
Juu nana hon - 2nd place Rachel Ng & Kevin Low

10 members braved the 40 degree scorching weather to compete in this event, which was held in Adelaide. It was enjoyed by all in good spirit. 18/08/07:   Nidan and shoudan gradings: 4 Shodokan Sydney members were recently graded for their respective levels. The examiners were Alan Higgs Sensei (6th Dan) and Peter Cleydon Sensei (5th Dan). Peter Baculak came close to passing nidan but will have to try again in a few months. Phil Taylor, Tomek Rej and Ewa Rej passed their shoudan gradings. Congratulations to them! Thanks also for everyone who turned up on the day to support the participants.
